I’m Defne Güntürkün, a textile designer specializing in print and pattern design. I started my career in 2003 while I was still at university, working professionally as a designer—and I’ve been creating textiles ever since.

 

I received my bachelor's and master of arts degrees at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in Istanbul. I continued a part of my MA studies at the Accademia Di Belle Arti Di Bologna in Bologna- Italy. ​ ​

 

Over the years, I’ve developed a strong focus on printed fabrics, from bold statement motifs to refined all-over repeats. Alongside print, I’ve also designed extensively for yarn-dyed patterns, including checks and plaids, which has sharpened my sense of structure, rhythm, and color balance across different fabric constructions.

 

For the past decade, I’ve been working freelance, collaborating with brands and manufacturers internationally. My approach combines a designer’s eye for storytelling with production-aware thinking—creating patterns that look beautiful on screen and translate seamlessly into real fabric.

 

I collaborate with international brands and manufacturers, developing production-ready patterns for seasonal collections. My work has been commissioned by brands and textile partners across Europe and North America. I partner with brands and mills to create distinctive prints and yarn-dyed designs tailored to each collection’s needs. From concept to repeat to final artwork, I deliver patterns designed to translate beautifully onto fabric.    I work internationally with fashion and textile teams, supporting both in-house collections and custom projects. My designs combine strong visual identity with technical accuracy—built for real-world production. Over the past decade, I’ve supported clients worldwide with original, licensable patterns and custom developments. Selected collaborations include brands and manufacturers from multiple markets—each project shaped by season, story, and end use.
